Improving skills in Illustrator

For the last few weeks I have been helping my mum out with some poster designs and I designed some basic characters in Illustrator:

I started to design the above image and showed my mum (sounds really kid like but still, almost like a client) and she said she didn't actually wear a nurse hat and wanted short and spiky hair like her own. So I came up with the illustration below:

I placed the information in a box with the same flat colouring that the illustration has. She loves it and will be posting it up in her school for people to see.
